i began this website early this year, in the hopes of chronicling my journey of collecting stories and telling stories. one goal that i set out to accomplish was to chronicle the journey of my 100 Cups Of Tea over a period of a year. initially, i looked for specific public spaces which were not normally used for art and Gail Ambrosius was kind enough to take on my teacups in her storefront. and since then, the journey has taken off. i connected with Mystery To Me and the timing couldn't have been better - my teacups were there for the opening of the great bookstore on Monroe Street. next, the teacups partied at RAW Madison's EN MASSE, and now they are making their way to STACKED for another fun evening on 19th September. i feel honored to be a part of the beautiful space that is the newly renovated Madison Central Public Library.
i had the privilege yesterday, with some of the other participating artists, of getting a tour of the library while it is still under construction. i am truly excited for this library to reopen! i don't want to give away anything and i'm hoping many of you will come out to STACKED to see the beautiful space for yourselves, but let me just say i am looking forward to hanging out at the library. :) i think you will be amazed at the feeling of openness and all the light that pervades all three floors of the building.
so mark 19th September on your calendars and come and party! i mean, how can you turn down Paka Paka Lightshow dance party on the 3rd floor of the library? ;)
here are some photos i took with my iphone yesterday during the tour of the library of things that caught my eye and possible locations for the teacup installation:
