i want to tell you a little bit about these new paintings that are up on my Saatchi page. i painted these at life drawing sessions held at a local art gallery, Bright Red Studios. the life drawing sessions are organized and headed by Paul Smith, a fabulous local artist. i have gone to a couple of them and have really really enjoyed it. if any of you are interested in drawing/painting, come and join us on tuesday nights!
a cardinal couple has been busy building their nest in our backyard. i was able to get a shot of the nest the other day:
love the colour of these eggs... i have been keeping an eye on the nest from our window and watching the momma cardinal come and go. i was really excited to see the eggs hatch, but sadly, i found the nest abandoned yesterday. i don't know if a squirrel got to the eggs. we saw the momma cardinal sitting on the nest all day on saturday, but come sunday morning, she was gone. when she didn't appear all day, i finally took a ladder and went up to look inside the nest and it was completely empty. we are so sad, but i imagine this happens often to birds' nests.
we had a great sunny weekend - lucky for us as we had a yard sale on saturday. it was great to clean out the house a bit. so now, i need to start packing up and ready the house to be put on the market! yesterday, we took a bike ride along Lake Mendota. it was beautiful and i kept thinking, "oh, this will be the last time we do this in Madison...!" but i suppose it can't be helped.
hope you have a great week!! happy monday!
